The Company
A Market Leading, Global High Frequency Trading firm that has offices in multiple locations globally and a reputation for innovative use of cutting edge technologies to capture financial markets opportunities. They have a highly mature, yet casual environment that looks to empower individuals to work autonomously on projects whilst contributing to overall team objectives. Due to significant growth they're looking for a Systems Engineer with Automation/Continuous Integration expertise across infrastructure and applications.
The Team
This role sites within an exceptionally talented Systems Integration Engineering team working within a very flat managerial structure. The Integration Team is essentially the glue that brings and holds this complex and dynamic environment together. The trading systems are in-house developed and modified by very gifted developers who write very lean, efficient, low-latency code, these modules or enhancements are then tested and handed over to the team to integrate into the live environment using an array of technologies (UNIX, Linux, Shell, SQL, Perl, Python etc ). While there is a large projects focus the team takes a very proactive view to maintaining these systems with a strong emphasis on constant improvement and automation along with support.
The Role
In a nutshell the role itself is to deploy applications and tune the Application and Infrastructure layers in order to achieve the best possible performance and stability. There is a strong focus on Automation for Infrastructure and Continuous Integration for Application deployments so along with your expertise with Linux (Red Hat) and advanced Scripting skills (Shell, BASH, SQL, Perl and Python) you'll draw on extensive experience using various automation tools (Puppet, Cobbler, CFEngine) to integrate low-latency solutions into this complex, dynamic environment.

Requirements of the role:
  • Expertise with Linux (Red Hat) System Configuration/Administration.
  • Solid experience with Automation/Continuous Integration (Puppet, Cobbler, CFEngine).
  • Strong Scripting skills: Shell, BASH, SQL, Perl, Python.
  • Infra and Application Performance Tuning and Optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL).
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, verbal and written.
  • IT Projects experience (desirable).
  • Previous infra experience with mail servers, networks, storage & backups (desirable).
  • Full working rights for the Australian market.
