Filled Under:

The Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellowship (PMRDF) Scheme

The Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellowship (PMRDF) Scheme is a great short term work opportunity given by the Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with State Governments, for university educated and academically bright young women and men (22-27 years old). During the 2-Year duration of the fellowship, fellows will assist the District Administration in backward districts and act as development facilitators particularly in implementation of the flagship schemes in rural areas. It is a wonderful opportunity for young professionals who are short of hands-on experience, as it gives them a feel of working within the government and build their capacity in programme implementation, gain field experience and explore self-motivation as well as life goals.

Fellows will also simultaneously participate in a post graduate degree programme to obtain an M.Sc/ M.Phil in Development Practice, to be conducted by the prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) who also train the fellows. During the fellowship, the fellows will also be paid a generous stipend.
