Job summary
The Red Hat Infrastructure Services team is seeking an Associate Application Developer to maintain, monitor, project, and enhance the current infrastructure, services, tools, and applications. In this role, you will establish a detailed program specification through discussions with clients, develop a dashboard and tools for the Infrastructure Services team, and troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements. As an Application Developer, you'll also work with lab admins to update developed tools, as well as work with the IT team to address concerns during application development and corporate data access.

Primary job responsibilities
  • Work with internal team members on the GIS dashboard, web interface, and tools improvement
  • Develop a web interface to synchronize with global labs
  • Develop synchronization tools and scripts for various technologies being used within GIS labs; maintain developed tools and scripts
  • Coordinate application development for multiple projects
  • Develop a platform to integrate the dashboard with different Red Hat products and tools like Bugzilla, Request Tracker, Beaker, etc.
  • Work with the Engineering team on the Beaker project to include GIS requirements
  • Conduct testing and install the code into production
  • Devise possible solutions to anticipate problems; respond to problems and correct the applications as necessary
  • Evaluate and increase the effectiveness of tools and applications
  • Adapt and develop programs to new requirements as necessary
  • Forecast the future of the dashboard and other tools to perform accurate data analysis and management
  • Provide assistance to business users on the effective use of applications and information technology
  • Assist in creating the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects
  • Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications
  • Produce technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge
Required skills
  • Knowledge of UNIX or Linux programming languages like PHP, Qt, Perl, Python, etc.
  • Database administration skills
  • Ability to design a website based on a target audience
  • Knowledge of Linux is an advantage
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field; engineering or computer science background is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret English language technical documents
  • Ability to speak business level English
  • Good creative thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a team while meeting strict deadlines
  • Awareness of international web standards and protocols
