Killer Interview tips
How to make the interviewer ask the questions, which you want him to ask you?

Dear Reader,

Whenever you are about to give an interview you will always feel some goose bumps. First of all whenever you face an interview most likely the opening question would be – Tell me something about yourself OR Describe about yourself.  Normally we immediately start with our Name, educational qualifications, family, place and our experience.
Kindly notice that, all this information has already been provided, by you, to the interviewer, through your resume.
So, now what has to be answered about ourselves? Let’s take an example.

Example
INTERVIEWER : Tell me something about yourself?
CANDIDATE : I am a person with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to get along with the people. I enjoy challenges and looking for creative solutions to problems.
OR
Besides the details given in my resume, I believe in character, values and action. I am quick in learning from mistakes. I am confident that the various tests that you have conducted will corroborate my competencies, aptitude and right attitude for the job.

What is the Best Way to answer this question?
The best technique to answer this question is to list your 3 positives and the demonstrator for each positive. Also tell them about your passion/qualities/hobbies/positives about “What you do outside work”. When you tell them about your passion then be passionate about it. You should know in and out of your activity. For e.g. if you love reading books then you should be able to tell about your last book read, favorite authors, best book, type of books you like etc.

So in short when you are asked about yourself you should tell like this
1)      Say who you are.
2)      Describe your Biggest strength for e.g. “leadership” or “team player”
3)      Explain what the benefit of that strength will be to the company.
4)      For Fresher’s -Tell the Interviewer what prompted you to pursue your present course and what all achievements you have accomplished till today.
5)      Now in the second part you should be able to explain about your skills, hobbies, interests and passions. Lastly explain how your keen interest in these activities have made you a keen learner/team player/leader/sharp observer/creative/analytical/logical etc. Tell them what your key skills are and validate it by giving practical e.gs. A list of major key skills are as follows :

·         People Management Skills
·         Time Management Skills
·         Interpersonal communication Skills
·         Business communication skills
·         Verbal Communication Skills
·         Organizational Skills
·         Strategic Thinking
·         Creative Thinking
·         Effective Listening Skills
·         Decision making Skills
·         Problem solving Skills
·         Negotiating skills
·         Teamwork Skills
·         Coaching/Teaching Skills
·         Risk Taking Ability
·         Responsibility
·         Critical thinking
·         Multi tasking
·         Diplomacy Skills
·         Perseverance & motivation skills
·         Ability to work under pressure
and the list goes on…..
Pick your choice and explain it.

For Freshers
A classic answer for this question would be as follows:-
INTERVIEWER: Tell me something about yourself?
Candidate: “I'm a full-time student studying  in ___________. My subjects in(Course Name) gives me a strong foundation to begin my career with XYZ company, and I'm excited to learn from the industry leaders here." Apart from learning the subjects I am a voracious reader of books. I like to read books from which I can learn the lessons of life and implement them in my routine to improve my people management skills. Recently I have read a wonderful book named “How to win friends and Influence people “ by Dale Carnegie. I really liked the entire book but one topic took my attention and that was –“How to get genuinely interested in people”.
Now dear friends what do you think the next question would be?
To be continued……….
ALL THE BEST!
